Open Champions Volunteer Positions 

Event Volunteer: 

  • Assist with the planning, organization, and execution of fundraising events such as galas, walks, and runs. 
  • Help set up event venues, manage registration, coordinate logistics, and provide on-site support during the event. 
  • Engage with attendees, answer questions about CureDuchenne’s mission, and promote awareness of Duchenne muscular dystrophy. 

Fundraising Ambassador: 

  • Mobilize your network and community to raise funds for CureDuchenne through peer-to-peer fundraising campaigns. 
  • Organize creative fundraising initiatives such as bake sales, garage sales, or virtual fundraisers on social media platforms. 
  • Provide support and resources to fellow Champions interested in fundraising efforts. 

Advocacy Advocate: 

  • Advocate for policy changes and legislative action to support individuals living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy and their families. 
  • Participate in advocacy training sessions, awareness campaigns, and meetings with policymakers at the local, state, and national levels. 
  • Share personal stories and experiences to raise awareness about the needs of the Duchenne community and drive positive change. 

Community Outreach Volunteer: 

  • Represent CureDuchenne at community events, health fairs, and conferences to raise awareness and educate the public about Duchenne muscular dystrophy. 
  • Distribute informational materials, engage with attendees, and facilitate conversations about CureDuchenne’s mission and programs. 
  • Identify opportunities for partnership and collaboration with local organizations, schools, and businesses to expand outreach efforts. 

Social Media Ambassador: 

  • Amplify CureDuchenne’s messaging and reach on social media platforms by sharing posts, stories, and updates with your network. 
  • Create and publish original content related to Duchenne muscular dystrophy, fundraising events, advocacy campaigns, and success stories. 
  • Engage with followers, respond to comments, and promote community interaction and engagement. 

Translation/Interpreter Volunteer: 

  • Assist with translating written materials, website content, and communications into different languages to reach diverse audiences. 
  • Provide interpretation services for non-English-speaking individuals during events, meetings, and outreach activities. 
  • Help bridge language barriers and ensure that information about Duchenne muscular dystrophy and CureDuchenne’s programs is accessible to all. 

Event Planning and Coordination: 

  • Event Coordinator: Plan, organize, and execute fundraising events, such as galas, walks/runs, golf tournaments, and auctions. 
  • Logistics Coordinator: Coordinate event logistics, including venue selection, permits, equipment rental, transportation, and catering. 
  • Volunteer Coordinator: Recruit, train, and manage volunteers for events, ensuring smooth operation and positive volunteer experience. 
  • Marketing and Promotion Coordinator: Develop marketing strategies and promotional materials to increase event attendance and fundraising. 

Advocacy and Awareness: 

  • Advocacy Champion: Advocate for policy changes and increased funding for Duchenne muscular dystrophy research and access to treatments. 
  • Awareness Ambassador: Raise awareness about Duchenne muscular dystrophy and CureDuchenne’s mission through community outreach, educational events, and social media campaigns. 
  • Legislative Advocate: Lobby lawmakers at the local, state, and federal levels to support legislation that benefits individuals with Duchenne and their families. 
  • Public Speaker: Share personal stories and insights about living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy or the importance of supporting CureDuchenne at speaking engagements, conferences, and community events. 

Community Engagement: 

  • Support Group Facilitator: Lead or assist with support groups for individuals affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy and their families, providing emotional support and resources. 
  • School Outreach Coordinator: Develop educational materials and presentations about Duchenne muscular dystrophy for schools and youth organizations to raise awareness and promote inclusivity. 
  • Community Ambassador: Represent CureDuchenne at community events, health fairs, and conferences to distribute information and engage with the public.
