CureDuchenne is giving away FREE MyID Medical Bracelets to individuals in the United States who are living with Duchenne to help provide peace of mind.
Duchenne muscular dystrophy is a rare and complicated disorder with many unique needs. Individuals with Duchenne often encounter health care professionals in emergency situations who know very little about the disease. Medical ID bracelets are a great way to communicate important information about Duchenne and its potential complications to EMS professionals in urgent medical situations.
*Note: The medical ID bracelet is free for individuals living with Duchenne, but shipping costs apply.
Ensure that Emergency Medical Services (EMS) professionals have clear and immediate access to information that may impact health outcomes for an individual with Duchenne in emergency situations.

In an emergency, if an individual is not able to communicate EMS would have no way of knowing an individual has Duchenne. Paramedics are trained to look at the wrist to determine if there are any medical problems they should be aware of.
A typical medical ID bracelet is limited to only a few lines of text, which is not enough to communicate potential complications such as adrenal insufficiency, fat embolism syndrome, or cardiac insufficiency. The MyID Medical Bracelet profile also includes optional, fully customizable elements such as:
- Medications
- Allergies
- Emergency contacts (automatically notified by text message whenever the profile is accessed)
- Physicians

STEP 2. Link the code on the back of the bracelet to your online profile.
STEP 3. Link the code on the sticker set to your online profile.
NOTE: The ID#s and PIN#s are different for the bracelet and the stickers.
My ID recommends using stickers on your child’s mobility device (stroller, scooter, wheelchair), cell phone, car sets, or perhaps a device they use at school. The stickers can be used any way your family sees fit.
Your private health information is only viewable by the person logging into the account. First Responders and others who scan the QR code can only see the public profile view. Each section of the profile has a toggle button to switch from Public to Private View. The public view is what’s shown when the QR code is scanned. For more information refer to MyID’s terms and conditions.
QR stands for Quick Response and is sort of like a barcode. You may have seen them on advertisements or even on your bananas! They essentially connect the physical world with the digital world. They can store data and are scannable by any smartphone, which we think is perfect for something as complex as a medical profile.
All sections of the profile are public by default. Each section of the profile has a toggle button to switch from Public to Private View. For more information refer to MyID’s terms and conditions.
If the bracelet is too big for your child, please contact cares@cureduchenne.org.
If you lose or misplace your bracelet/stickers, go to your online MyID account, click “Manage Linked Product”, and unlink it. It can be re-linked to the same account using these steps if it is found. Additionally, you can order a new bracelet online from CureDuchenne if one is lost.
