Your Voice Is Everything

Your Voice Matters

When the Duchenne and Becker community speaks, the world listens — not just because of what you say, but because of how deeply it comes from the heart.

In recent weeks, families across our community have continued to share their stories. Real life. Real emotion. Real impact.

We know how hard that is.

It takes strength to be vulnerable. To open about fear, uncertainty, or grief. To share your family’s most personal moments with others — sometimes strangers — in hopes that it might spark progress or help someone else feel less alone.

Because of your honesty and openness, families feel seen. Your story shines a light on Duchenne, bringing hope, awareness, and connection to others on this journey and those who have never heard of DMD. Your voice matters, and it’s making a difference.

The Revell family’s story, recently featured in The Washington Post, is just one example of the many families who’ve bravely opened their hearts about the challenges and uncertainty of living with Duchenne and their desire to make their own informed choices about what’s best for their child.

To each of you who has shared your truth in a conversation, a support group, a post, or a public forum. Thank you.

Keep showing up. Keep being brave. Keep speaking — even when it’s hard. Your voice is a lifeline. Together, we will cure Duchenne.

You learn how to craft your story here.
