Champions in Dallas

Dallas’ Finest Will Unite to Advance Innovative Research and Care for Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy

Dallas, TX – August 19, 2024– CureDuchenne, a leading nonprofit dedicated to finding a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy, is thrilled to announce its upcoming Champions in Dallas event. Set to take place on Thursday, October 3, 2024, at the stunning DHV Artworks in Dallas, this event promises a night of exceptional cuisine, fine wine, and live entertainment, all in support of a vital cause. The event will raise funds for CureDuchenne to advance research for a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy and improve care for individuals living with the degenerative neuromuscular disease.

Guests will embark on a culinary adventure featuring a variety of flavors curated by top Dallas chefs, such as Chef DAT, Chef Jon Stevens, Chef Mark Wootton and Chef Scott Girling, accompanied by exquisite wines from Simon Family Estate and REWA. Adding to the evening’s ambiance, the Dallas String Quartet will provide live entertainment, blending classical and contemporary music on both traditional and electric strings.

Kate Miner Moebel, a Dallas resident and Champions in Dallas Chair, has a personal connection to the cause. In 2019, her family received the heartbreaking news that her grandson Shepherd, now age 10, had Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Kate shared, “Immediately upon Shepherd’s diagnosis, my mission became clear. I would carry hope for a cure and shout from every mountaintop to raise awareness and support for this devastating disease. I know the generosity of Dallas will shine as we support CureDuchenne, who is funding research that will bring us closer to a cure for Shepherd and the nearly 15,000 boys and young men living with this disease in the U.S. alone.”

The event is expected to draw top business leaders, influencers, entrepreneurs, and philanthropists, all united by a shared commitment to improving the lives of those affected by Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Proceeds from the evening will go directly to CureDuchenne, funding cutting-edge research and vital programs that provide hope and improve care for thousands of families.

“Champions in Dallas is more than just a night of exquisite food and wine,” said Debra Miller, founder and CEO and of CureDuchenne. “It’s an opportunity for the community to come together to support groundbreaking research that brings us closer to a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of our donors and partners who make events like this possible.”
