Dallas, TX – October 22, 2024– The Dallas community came together in an extraordinary show of support at Champions in Dallas on October 3, 2024, raising $100,000 for CureDuchenne, a leading nonprofit dedicated to finding a cure for Duchenne muscular dystrophy. Held at the stunning DHV Artworks, the event was a night filled with culinary excellence, fine wine, and heartfelt moments, all in the name of advancing research and care for individuals living with the degenerative neuromuscular disease.

The evening was graced by Dallas’ most prominent business leaders, philanthropists, and influencers, who shared in their commitment to find a cure for Duchenne. Guests enjoyed a culinary adventure featuring a variety of flavors curated by t by top Dallas chefs: Chef Jon Stevens, Stock and Barrel; Chef Mark Wootton, Garden Ca,; Chef Scott Girling, Osterio Il Muro; and Chef DAT, private and pop up. Exquisite wines from Simon Family Estate, Rewa Vineyards, and 32 Winds were represented. Adding to the evening’s ambiance were the elegant sounds of the Dallas String Quartet.

The event carried special meaning for Dallas resident and Champions in Dallas Chair Kate Miner Moebel, whose 10-year-old grandson, Shepherd, was diagnosed with Duchenne in 2019. “From the moment Shepherd was diagnosed, I knew I had to act. My heart was filled with a desire to raise awareness and funding, and tonight has reaffirmed that mission. Seeing this incredible community come together to support CureDuchenne gives me hope for Shepherd’s future and for all the boys affected by this disease,” shared Kate.

CureDuchenne’s founder and CEO, Debra Miller, expressed deep gratitude for the success of the evening. “This event is a testament to the power of community. Every dollar raised brings us closer to new treatments and, ultimately, a cure for Duchenne. We are so thankful to everyone who contributed to making this night unforgettable.”

The success of Champions in Dallas would not have been possible without the support of hosts Cary and Dr. Mark Deuber, Lucinda Buford, Allie Beth Allman & Associates, Dr. Eric Olson, Dr. Laurie Clark, and Dr. Diana Castro and Dr. Shai Manzuri. Their dedication, along with the generosity of event partners and sponsors such as Brit Rose, American Airlines, UT Southwestern, and the Steele Family, played a vital role in making the evening a resounding success.

Debra Miller added, “Champions in Dallas is about more than just an event. It’s about giving families hope and funding research that can change the course of Duchenne. Together, we are getting closer to a cure.”
