Self-Stretches for Duchenne
As part of CureDuchenne Cares – a physical therapy, education and outreach program for the Duchenne community – we are pleased to share information on a self-stretching routine for those living with Duchenne muscular dystrophy.
CureDuchenne and the Duchenne Therapy Network created a new video blog and a printable handout on stretching. Performing a daily stretching routine is the most effective way to prevent loss of flexibility. When done correctly, it can manage muscle contractures and ultimately improve and prolong physical ability and independence.
Watch the video and learn more about:
- Hamstring Stretch
- Achilles Self Stretch
- Soleus Stretch
- Wrist Extension Stretch
- Wrist and Finger Extension
- Neck Extensor
- Trunk Rotation

Our next in-person parent education session will be held in Toledo, Ohio, on March 14. If you are in the area, please register for this free informational session geared toward parents and caregivers.
The goal of CureDuchenne Cares is to improve outcomes, extend ambulation and provide guidance on standards of care for all Duchenne patients, while drugs are being developed to treat this disease. If you have topics you would like to see addressed, please e-mail alicia@cureduchenne.org.
